I had them hardwired to come on when the key was on for almost a year. Its no problem to do it that way, I just wanted to get everything working the way it was supposed to.

Yea, one thing you can do is just splice into a wire that gets power when the key is on and pick up a power distribution block and get a lead and mount it there, then wire your fans and whatever else you want on when you turn the key to that extra power distribution. I think this is what im gonna do to clean up the engine bay.

Best way to get that to work is to play around with the relay input/output wires for your fans.

See if the main power is going to the relay, check if the relay is working and see if the relay switching power is there when the fans are supposed to come on.

I realize you'd like answers to your specific problem but without being right in front of the car-not too many peole can help directly....we can all give you alternatives though, which may not be what you want. I used two SPDT Bosch type relays you can usually find in the foglight section of a local autoparts store. I did this after I realized that the fans actually ran just a bit faster this way then by going via the OEM relay. This is most likely due to me getting direct battery voltage to the fans. Good luck though.

220 is normal stock temperature, if I recall correctly the secondary fan doesn't kick on ti'll 230.

good point. the stock fan settings are way too high. If you have access to Tunercat or LT1Edit, turn the temps down and I bet it will solve your problem.

Need a cable, I forgot the link I had to order them for 40 bucks. Its a ALDL to serial cable, akmcables.com charges like 90 bucks, I wish I had a link to the $40 dollar one. Me or texas can hook you up with the definition file for tuner cat.
