79 400 engine
Is it possible to swap out the 1986 305 tpi engine and put in the 1979 pontiac 400 raceing engine without haveing to change out your trannies. The curent tranny i have is the 700r4 auto.

The bellhousing patterns between the 2 are different. So the answer is no. You posibley could get an adapter plate to mate the 2 together tho.

ADAPTER PLATE ISSUES
Hi there,yes there is an adapter plate available i have even seen one here in England I believe Offenhauser make them,i have no contact details for them though.
