Anyone know which walbro pump to get? I want to keep a spare in the garage just incase the V6 pump decides to take a crap. The car has been running lean and I havn't replaced the fuel filter but if it continues after I do so, I may replace the pump. I don't need an overkill race pump, but definatley one that is at least at the stock LT1 pump range or better and needs to be a direct replacement. Thanks.
Walbro 255 high pressure. The 190 and base 255 units can suppoort serious power levels but I cannot remember what PSI they can maintain.
May be 52-60 PSI. Wheres the cheapest place to get them shifty? I've checked thunderracing and summit and they carry holley unless walbro is the samething.

The Holley one is the same.. it says Holley 255lph by Walbro on the casing.. same one I am running.. just has a different name on the box..

nope the thing is plug and play, I was converting from carb so I had to use a tpi sender, but if you already have that harness you are good to go..
as for price, I bought mine from jegs.. didn't really bother to shop around..

FPG003 is the kit I got, mounts right onto the 3rd gen in-tank assembly and includes a wiring pigtail to plug into the 3rd gen fuel pump connector...no soldering, no splicing, no cutting.Originally posted by pasky

I ran the pump for a year with my TPI engine, and now with my LS1...it's happy either way.

Good luck w/ the swap dude, should be the last pump you'll ever buy. They're a gerotor design instead of the traditional roller-vane and they'll take abuse. I've starved mine on corners road-coursing it, filled the tank with nice sun-heated fuel, and it just keeps coming back for more.Originally posted by pasky

I got mine from www.musclemotors.com a while back for $90 shipped. You have to email them a part number or call them up, but they were the cheapest back then. I haven't put it in yet but I am going with a baffled tank and a few other things while I'm back there.

The harness is required for high HP levels where you will be pushing the limits of the Walbro pump. The extra voltage buys you more headroom / safety zone. In some cases factory wiring can be an issue do to the age of the 3rd gens. The Racetronix harness takes the pump load off of the factory wiring.
I helped a friend install the kit on his '89 GTA... lined up great.
The kit is designed for the L98, and the pictures justify that, except my battery and alternator are on the other side.
I wasn't looking forward to having more wires looping over my tranny...
I am borderline with the stock fuel pump, which is why I asked.
Any method to the kit that will make it a little more friendly for the V-belt setups?

There are no issues with running the harness over the transmission as the loom and wire are more than able to handle the heat. If you wish you can run the harness down the passenger's side of the car but the harness might be a bit short in order to mount the relay in the recommended location. You could always special order a harness with a bit of extra length by contacting our sales dept.Originally posted by Twilightoptics
