87 L98, is it a 4 bolt main?
I was at my local secret junkyard today and I bought a yellow 87 IROC that he had there for parts. I looked up the VIN and it comes up as an 87 with an L98, also the car is a 5 speed.
Is the L98 a 4 Bolt Main ?
I have the harness and computer, I'm thinking of pulling the motor and trans in one shot and tossing it in my 90 RS.
Any insight guys?
I don't know too much about the tuned port setup, my 87 had a blown TPI 305 in it when I got it, so I never even messed with it, I just put a stroker in it and called it a day.

It could be, but probably not. Nearly every 4 bolt main I have ever seen was in a Corvette, truck, van, etc. Either way, factory two bolt blocks are plenty strong (some argue stronger, but I won't get into that) and can be equipped with aftermarket splayed caps that are stronger than factory 4 bolts anyway.

Only the Corvette got a 4-bolt L98 (notice I said L98, not 350).
But on any streetable combo, a 2-bolt block is more than strong enough.

I never said the VIN said the car was stick, I said that's just what was in the car. I'll look more at the motor when he drops the car off at my shop this week. I know the 350 never came mated to a stick, but I'm guessing the kid threw it and and tossed the 700R4. I have everything I need to put the tranny in my car except fo the shifter, which I will find one at a bone yard to see if it moves between the gears nice. And hell, for what I paid, I don't care if I just get the motor and harness.
Thanks for the help....

More likely the car was a factory 5.0/5-speed and the 350 was dropped in.

8th digit of the VIN is an 8 which I think means L98.
