my lt1 is stalling part 2

ok guys i post one a while back about an lt1 swap i did in my 91 Z. once i fired it up and drove it it would stalls on me when i hit the go pedal. i guess no one has had this problem but any way today i dissconected the M.A.F sensor to see what it would do. i drove the car and it did not stall. does this mean the M.A.F sensor is bad or is it something related to it? also is there a way or can i test the M.A.F sensor? thanks

Yep, thats what it is, be sure its getting power if you can scan the car. You'll notice that if you disconnect the filter and put your hand over the MAF, the car will die. Sounds like the MAF is your problem. Thier expensive to replace .

About $250 brand new from gmpartsdirect. Dealership here in town wanted $415 . Check ebay for them, cheapest place to get them. Yes you can run without the MAF, you won't see full potential, it just means the motor will run off using the MAP sensor instead. It won't damage your engine if you don't use the MAF.

Sorry to hear that but you finally found the problem I read somewhere that if the car is idling and you tap the M.A.F. sensor, if the idle changes, it's bad. Never tried it though. Good luck.

If you're looking to save some cash, pick up one from a salvage yard, or someplace like Hawks or Fbodymotorsports. The Lt1 style MAFs rarely go bad (I have never had to replace one), and I'd take used GM over reman any day!
