v6 auto to 305 t5
v6 auto to 305 t5
i might have the chance of having a 89 305 t5 falling into my hands for only $300. ive been looking for an engine and trans to swap into my 92 rs v6 and this looks like a good candidate to start. the engine only has 40k miles on it and it drives hard. only down side is no 1st gear. Is it worth the down time of my car to swap everything in and just replace the stuff needed at a later time? I know that there will be some difficulty hanging the clutch pedal but since i have the whole assembly it should be no problem right? I mean for $300 bucks and some good quality wrenching time i could have a better 3rd gen in my opinion. What do you guys think?

Only you can decide if the down-time is worth it. I'd fix the tranny first, then start the swap.
