ZZ4 / Fastburn
I have an 83TA with functional cowel intake but presently using C&N filter and lid rather than the snorkle.
The intake (No. 12366573, non EGR) on the Fastburn looks taller than the intake (No. 10185063, EGR) on the ZZ4.
The spec sheet for the Fastburn also lists EGR intake No. 12496820 which seems to be an alernative.
Does anyone know if the 12496820 EGR intake is the same height as the one on the ZZ4 because I don't think that the Fastburn motor in the picture would fit under my hood.
I know there are no passages in the heads but I'll have to put a non-functional EGR on it anyway.

IIRC, the Fastburns use the Vortec style intake (Raised runner). The ZZ4 intake uses the standard SBC intake runners.

The "fast-burn 385" does have a taller mounting height for the carb by about 3/4". I'm looking at this as an issue on my Camaro too. The other intake (12496820) is for Q-jet applications or EGR, but it's the same height. An Edelbrock "Vortec Performer" (not RPM or Air-Gap) will clear the hood just fine and sacrifice little in power.
