305TPI to 350 carb?
I can get a complete 350 out of a '79 Chevy 1-ton for $200 if I want. Would this be a good motor.. at least shortblock, to start out with? I know nothing about Chevy's, this is my 1st one. What about the heads, any good?
I don't really think my 305 TPI is worth building. Any insight would be helpful.

Build the 350 shortblock, port your 305 TPI heads and have 1.94" intake valves installed.
You'll have to use a flat-tappet cam and 2-piece rear main seal type flywheel/flexplate.
That would be worth building.

Thanks, are there any differences between truck 350's and car 350's? I know that a Ford 5.0 is different in a car and a truck, just wondering if it was the same aspect. If so, what differences?

Truck 350's tend to have 4 bolt mains, but not guarenteed. Car 350's may or may not. Otherwise, the blocks themselves aren't any different.
The best bet is a truck 350 will have very poor heads for a performance car. A car 350 from '79 will not have very good heads, either, though. Your 305 heads would be better than they would be w/o any work, but will be even better with the suggested work-over.
