Is it bad???

Is it bad if i run my car with the vacume line to the vacume adv. on the distributor off? just woundering becuz i swaped on an Edelbrock RPM air-gap intake and i just couldnt get the car to run as good as it did when i had the performer on the car and the vacume line goin to the distributor.

now i have the car set at 8* adv. and no vacume line on the dist. and it runs strong. when i have the line connected it kinda bogs/stalls before the car throws u back in the seat. could it be pullin to much timming when the vacume line is hooked up? im thinkin of just caping the vacume port that goes from the carb to the dist and leave it at that.

any help or advise is great. now i just have to hope this very small oil leak i have is just a valve cover gasket and not the back of the manifold.

you probably need to buy an adjustable vacuum can and dial that in properly. or you can run off ported vacuum off the carb and try that as well.

well i have the vacume line that goes to the dist. runing off of a vacume port on the carb. and its been like that for about 2 yrs up until i change manifolds and now the car feels like it runs better with it dissconnected. also my vacume gauge shows about 19-20 hg's or whatever it is for vacume instead of it was at about 18 or 17.

maybe since its pullin more vacume when i get oin the gas the vacume adv. is pullin more timming

i believe the vacuum can pulls everything it can at 15" of vacuum. honestly I think the new manifold might want a new ignition curve and fuel curve as well. Everytime i change one aspect of my motor I spend a few days changing timing, jets, etc etc until I find a happy medium between everything.

okay kool but there wont be any harm done to run with out the vacume line on? i dont feel like there will be. but ill have to do it all over again since the back park ofthe intake is leakin oil. so i get to start over again as long as i dont move anything much.

well fuel economy is going to suck without it hooked up. also you might want to check plugs since they might foul out.
