305tbi > 350TBI

I know there is another thread already going that is similar to this, but not exactly the same. Here is the deal. My brother is looking at a lo3 camaro. He has access to a stock 350, that is in good shape. We want to swap the TBI onto the 350. I know that he needs a new knock sensor, but will he need the new injectors and PROM? Ihave done some searching, but havent come up with anything concrete. Some say just the knock sensor, some say all of it, anyone know for sure?

It depends does the 350 your getting come with an ecu? If its an lo5 with its ecm Just a little bit of rewireing at the harness is all you would have to do to make its ecm work in the camaro plus the knock sensor. if you dont have a matching 350 ecm and harness you cold just put a 350 bin on your lo3 prom then change your injectors and just use the lo3 fuel injection but then thats a whole nother trip. Also what year is it? '86 and below or '87 and up? There are different intake bolts paterns between different era's Not to mention cam. is it a roller cam. The ecm on a lo3 works with a roller best. also is the cam fuel injection friendly? Its done alot just do a search man, there are a s**t load of people asking about the lo5 swap do the home work. Hey anyone chime in and add anything I forgot, I'm a freaking noob!!!

Thanks for the help, but we decided to just go carb with the bad boy. It had a set of decent heads, well as decent as 993's can be. He really just needs it for a daily driver, nothing performance oriented, in fact its a totally stock engine.

If the engine is near stock you may just be able to get away with slightly larger injectors and some more base time. I put in 55 pph injectors and 350 ks with my goodwrench and it worked fine. Teh other option is to run the 9C1 prom and injectors. That motor was a standard L05 with an L98 cam, which may be closer to what you have. the real trouble comes when you try and use a significanly different motor with a stock tbi system.

As for the truck ecms, as long as its an ecm for a V8 its a plug-n-play affair. The only thing that wont be used is the intake air temperature sensor as the 7747 code has no provisions for it. The hardware in all the C3 ecms is the same. The only difference is the prom, onboard rom, and resister network for the RFD. I wouldnt see any problems with going down to the bone yard and getting a truck one thats close to the motor you have for 25 bucks or so.

Youll be ok with tbi if you still want to use it. I did this with my stock 350 and it got me back and forth without any trouble for quite some time.
