lt1 shopping
so in shopping for a lt1 i remeber my dads car in the driveway ( a buick roadmaster) does have a lt1...sombody told me that the older ones had 305's....i was just wondering that if the roadmasters were like the camaros and had lt1's in 93+ vehicles because using them as a donor car would save me at least 1k.
just wondering if the tranny was the same as well and would fit in my 92 rs....
how hard is a lt1 swap when u have a car with "everything" u practically need?

I do beleive the roadmasters had the baby LT1, not making it a good canidate for a swap. I'm not sure on the size but they were less than 300 CID.

Some did have a baby version of the Lt1 but many did in fact have the same Lt1 that was used in Impala SS's. Look for(I think) the letter P in the vin. On the inside trunk lid of Caprice's is the RPO code sheet and those with a 9C1, which may have been squad cars at some point, would also have the Lt1. The rear drivers side of the block should also have a 5.7 on it. I'm not too sure about the trans but I doubt it can be any different since a 4l60e is a 4l60e. There weren't many variations. It will be cheaper using one of these engines and I don't think....but not too sure...that keeping the a/c isas much of a problem with this particular version. It has iron heads as opposed to aluminum like the f-bodies and 'vette's. They outflow the f-bodies and are supposedly of a better design.
