91 TBI for a LT1
I'm picking up my 91 RS vert soon and was wondering how tough or easy it would be to pull the motor and drop a stock LT1 in it. I am planning on removing the air conditioning, egr valve and the smog pump. car doesnt have to take smog tests where im from. I know i need the ac delete pulley, plock off plates for the egr, but what all do i have to modify to the 91 itself for make it work, am i going to need a new computer stsyem for the car and if so what type and where can i get one? I've seen that the fual lines need to be modified or moved, and the rad hoses are a little different.
will the LT1 hook right up to the 700r4 thats in the car already or am i going to need a new tranny?
what year motor would work the best? 93-94 with speed density, 95 with the OBD1 and MAF, or the 96-97 OBD2 with maf?
I know a good bit about LT1's, My 97 SS has one and i've done my share of work to it.
thanks

well 93 is the only year for SD 94-97 are maf and 94-95 being OBDI.
That being said, you want the complete harness and all sensors and PCM from the LT1 car, engine included.
Also if your using a 700R4 you will need a 93 TB unless you get the 4l60E with it.
OTher wise t-5 is fine.
you need to install a high pressure fuel pump, your TBI one just won't support it.
But once you have your engine harness and PCM figured out let us know and we can help you along the way.
Plenty of great guys helping me complete my swap.

thanks for the info, i knew 93 was the only year for the sd, i was typin before i was thinkin, thanks for correcting me, what does the TB have to do with the tranny?
so your saying that the Maf sensor would be better for the car? I have a brand new granatelli that i had for my 97 but was going to sell it, i can hold onto it and use it if i go with a 94 or later motor. Id like to convert the car to a 6-speed in the future but just want the motor in first and running. Ill leave that as another project.

well if your auto and it sounds like it, you need a 93 TB, because it was the only year to have a non electronically shifted tranny and be attached to the LT1.
Where as 94-97 all auto tranny's where computer controlled.

Get yourself the 4L60E with the engine when you get it, you'll save yourself VSS troubles and wasted parts when you swap to a T56, try to get the engine and everything you can from the donor car, wiring un cut, pcm, radiator hoses, heater lines, etc.
94-97 would be preferred with 95 being the best choice however you could change a 96/97 pcm for a 95 also
