How do I indetify my 350 chevy

I have a 350 chevy 2 bolt mains, I know that its the post 1987 roller motor.I want to know the history of this engine and its origin. Is there a website? or would i have to contact general motors to find lout where this engine came from. Im building a 383 stroker what do you advise as buying preformance parts? should i mention thats its the roller motor when i order parts for it? On the rear of the block this number is displayed: 140 93 63 8.

I purposley bought the two bolt main , so I can install the 4 bolt stlayed cap. Is that recommended?

Just get the casting number from the block and that site should provide the info your looking for. And if your still not totally satisfied, you can post your findings from that site here and Im sure a few people might know alittle more.

ok just looked it up and it's an 87-95 Roller Block according to the website. no clue what it would have come in.
