305TBI to 350

Hello, I am recently been in the mood for more power in my Camaro RS. Love the car, but I want some more power. At the moment I have only the stock 305 with no modifications. I have been looking at the 350H.O. or the base 350 and using the extra money for other modifications.

How rough would this swap be? I'm sure someone has done it here before. What/Where would I get something for the computer. Going to a carb setup would cause problems with this wouldn't it?

Right now I also have the stock automatic transmission.
I would like to put a T56 or some other 5 speed into it. What would I need to do for this?

Thank you for your time.

Thanks much,
Eric

Alot of post has been made regarding this topic "305 to 350" $$ is what will limit you as far as how wild you want to go with a 350, complete exhaust setup, and for your T56 speed. It has taken me over 2 years to get where I am at on my vortec 350. Started with suspension first, exhuast, tranny and am currently putting together my engine minus an intake manifold. (still looking for a vortec manifold) As far as swap goes, it is fairly simple so long as you keep you current induction system. I am guessing you have the TBI setup. You may awnt to upgrade to a holley 670 or gm 454 tbi to feed the 350 and of course get a custom chip to work with your set up. Again try the "search" and you will find alot of good information you are looking for. Welcome aboard!

Thank you

Thank you for the response. Recently this site has been taking up all of my computer time. I suppose this can not be a bad thing can it? Hehe. Anyway thanks agian for your responce, means alot.

Oh yeah, I would deffiently be going into a carb setup. But to do that, I could purchase a custom computer chip? Do you know how much this will be?

Thanks agian

You do not need a chip if you go to a carb setup. A 600+ cfm carb is what you would need depending on your engine parts. GO here: https://www.thirdgen.org/newdesign/tech/carbswap.shtml
to read up EFI to carb swap.
