Capri or Carice diagrams
I called chevorlet about my mysterious engine id number (DDU). They told me that it's from either an '86 capri or an '86 caprice. Does anyone have any diagrams for either of these cars?

Two questions:
1) What diagrams are you looking for?
2) How does your question relate to 3rd gens?

my THIRD GEN trans am had it's original engine swapped with an either 86 capri or caprice by a previous owner.
I'm looking for emissions and electrical diagrams.

Check the FAQ forum for vacuum routing.
My Haynes manual has good electrical diagrams for the '82 model year. I'd recommend it.

So pick up a haynes for a Capri or Caprice then.
But, I can tell you that the general elec. systems are not that different from the Camaro LG4 to the Caprice LG4.

That good to hear because the 82 trans am came stock with a LG4. But what i'm after is the emission details and diagrams. One of the previous owners of my trans am told it's next owner that it's original 305 was swapped with a LT1 out of a Vette. That was extremely difficult to believe, however, the EGR was blocked off and some of the emissions were removed; these are measures taken while swapping in an LT1. If the engine that's present is a 305 from a caprice or capri, why was the EGR valve bypassed? Could anyone supply the procedure for undoing the mess made by the lying previous owner? TheGeneral? Trickster? If you read this, I could use some help. Anyone? Thanks.

Just to clarify, GM never made a "Capri". Ford did, really an imported German car, but GM never did.
GM did make a Caprice. They put 305's in a bunch of them.
However, that's irrelevant for your situation. Put it together the way it should be in an '82 3rd gen. Where the engine came from doesn't dictate that, what goes on the engine and what the engine goes into does.

Yea dude, knock the "Capri" off the options list. It was a Mercury product (a Mustang clone for a long time until swapped to a convertible roadster weenie-mobile...no offence, Capri owners!). So it's gonna be the Caprice, and most likely a pretty close match to what you got, depending on its fuel-delivery (TBI, carbuerated, etc.)
