502 is in and running...........

Well, after 4 years of waiting, the 502 (tow truck model) is in and running. Stay tuned for pics. All it needs to be finished is exhaust and a new hood.

Whats the predicted MPG for that beast

ive only driven a street rod with a stock internal 454, puting down 235HP but 345TQ, and i wasnt too impressed, it still had a sound that had me hooked on bigblocks though

I would love to have a 502 in my car

hey what kinda headers do you have on that? ive been lookin for headers and dont really wanna go the route of the hooker headers, since the heads ill probably be using are the Edelbrock RPM heads which i think have the raised exuast ports.

edit: also how tall is that with that intake and nitrous on it and everything? like do u have to use a 4" hood? i plan on puttin the ASCD big block hood on and i think thats like a 3'' hood.

the headers were built by a friend that runs a chassis shop 2 1/4 tubes 4inch collectors.with the coating i have 1500 in them.i had hookers on it with 3inch exhaust and went 9.30's with a 496 and a 275hp shot of nitrous.at the time i also had merlin iron heads whick i think have a raised port also.seemed to fit okay.

with my 496(454 block) and victor intake i ran a 3inch hood and if you have a 4150style carb and drop base filter it will fit under the hood.i now have tall deck block with a dart intake with a dominator and it took a 4inch hood to clear but i can't run a filter.i don't drive it on the street very much though and only on nice dry days.LOL

whatever you do get the hpc coating.it makes everything look good and will never rust.

yeah with my block i plan on makin a 496 out of it. i think ill have to run a 14x3 filter and drop base to just make sure and be on the safe side. i do plan on RPM air gap intake but by the looks of it you have one and or same style and no air filter so i think ill end up with a normal intake style. thanx

I`ve got an 14x4 air filter with the moroso drop base, I run an rpm edelbrock with a 850 demon, fits fine under the three inch harwood bolt on.

One fast-- Those primary`s for the headers, # 3 and #5... do they go thru the fender well or just ride over the sheetmetal sub frame?

3 and 5 and 4 and 6 go thru the the fenderwell and snake along tight up against the wheel well.all the tubes meet in the same place the hooker supercomps were and there i have a slip on collector and 4 inch exhaust that dumps right at the rearend.here is a pic before coating.

wild for sure.LOL
Yea...."wild" truly an understatement I`m guessing they rattle a bit too. I would also assume that you can only run skinnies up front

Surely a true work of art, I have often considered a weld up header kit but it looks as if they don`t give you enough pipes with just 1 kit, you said you had 1,500 in the headers..how much of that was in materials, i am curious if you don`t mind

what kinda times are you looking at running?

they do not rattle at all.never tried anything but skinnes.the kits on the market would not have had even close to enough bends.i bought a bunch of j bends and collectors.i have 600 in parts,600 in labor and 300 in the coating.

i have been 8.95 at 154 so far and i am fixin to upgrade the motor a little now.

How are you running your fuel?

Stock internal pump or mechanical? Replace any fuel lines?

I'm seriously thinking about a 454 to take the place of my LO3. But I'm think fuel starvation would be a concern?

Is that fuel solenoid mounted at the moment or just hanging?

if you are talking about mine,it has no mount plate, just on the line real right and it doesn't move.

to the other post, mine has a external electric pump mounted in the back and #8 lines from the tank to it and to the front of the car.i sumped my factory tank.

i have seen people do it with the factory lines and in tank pump with a mallory bypass regulator.
