i am buyin an 84 z28 from one of my friends who is a retired mechanic an he said it had a brand new jasper 305 in it an that it ran for about 12,000 miles an then just stopped. i called jasper an asked about the warranties an they said they had a 3yr/75,000 mile warranty. what should i do. do i take it to jasper?..the mechanic said he would try to get it runnin but he wasnt sure if he could...what should i do?

if the engine has a warranty, tell the mechanic you either want it running or take it in for warranty, either case don't let the price go up. and if he can't get it running or warranty (over 3 years?) then get the price dropped and put something else in.
so you dont think i will need a reason...just take it to Japser an tell them it just stopped working?

Well It's better if the original owner/warranty holder does it, I have no clue if the warranty will transfer.Originally posted by about2break1128

I recommend getting the original owner to do it, otherwise bargain him down more and then work on the problem.
Could be something simple all the way to a seize engine.
well..i called jasper n they said i can transfer the warranty free of charge. so when the guy gets back from thanksgiving break, he's gonna give me a call an we'll negotiate the price a little better.

good deal, I assume if you called about the transfer then they said the warranty was still valid? as in 1 year not up or mileage?
I would check on that as well
