Thirdgen LS1 Longtubes

I've tried search on this but no luck. On the guys who've done the LS1 engine swap, has anyone found any longtube headers that will work with this? Hawk's was supposed to have a set available soon but after talking with Bruce , it looks like it's gonna be a while before that happens. Has anyone found anything that comes close to working that might be modified a little to work? I don't see the point of shelling out money for a y-pipe for the stock manifolds only to cut it off when a set IS available. Any ideas?

Definitely keep me posted on this. It's what's holding me up from tearing the car down and doing the swap.

You can buy LS1 flanges from GM Performance Parts. A fellow on here took some Hooker third gen headers , cut off the flanges, repositioned the tubes to fit the LS1 flange and had a set of LS1 swap longtubes . This would incur some serious welding but seems like the only viable plan if you want longtubes. If a certain sponsor here *cough* Bruce*cough* would ever take the prototype headers off his car and ship them off to the fabricator for production , he could make a few bucks from us swappers. I'm willing to wait a little longer myself because the "Frankenheader" plan seems like an expensive PIA to me. And I definitely am quite interested in Mr._Dude's findings. Everything indicates this would really help in waking up this motor with the cam & intake package I'm getting for it. Heads will come into play sometime in the near future , too.

We took a set of 4th gen hooker headers and reworked the tubes... pretty big job and didn't get perfect pri. lengths but seem to work pretty good. Not sure I would recommend it though. Top half of the headers worked but bottom on the pass. side had to be completly changed. Few pics from last year when we did this.

anyone have some hooker longtubes cheap? im looking for some used ones that i can use to test the possibility of fitting onto a LS1... basicly hold it to the motor... if it clears reasonably, i'll cut the flange off, and spread the tube spacing to match the LS1 flange.. weld it up and poof. LS1 header for 3rdgen.
