2.8->5.7 Tpi -- $$$?
Ok, I'm looking at swapping a stock 350 in place of my craptacular v6(>225k miles anyone?), and im just trying to get a good estimation of just how much money im looking at. If it is too much ill just go for a 3.4 or something. Since im keeping this stock, and it probably wont be a fresh motor either, im going to try to put a 5-speed in with it(yeah, yeah, i know). What I need some second opinions on is how much im looking at. Ill need the stock motor, accessories, exhaust, front springs, tach, a v8 t-5, etc., and im getting the feeling that id be better off buying another car.
My other plan would be to get a strong 3.4, building it a bit before i put it in, and eventually slap on doward's turbo kit, but hopefully by then i could be running enough boost to make it semi-worth it. The problem with this is, of course, my residence in CA, making stuff like turbos and such nearly impossible(unless i managed to convice them it was the tta engine(yeah, sure)).
so, how much would a 350 drivetrain(auto even) run me if i nabbed it of a parts car/junkyard/etc? the rest of the stuff wouldnt be too hard, hopefully id get a harness with the engine, and their are loads of v8-less formulas and camaro's in the picknpull that i can get gagues and springs off of.
im barely even into the planning stages, so any and all input is welcome.

As detailed in the Important/Useful Information stickie at the top of the forum, the best bet is typically to get a complete donor car, even if you don't use the engine from it. Get one with V8 & 5-speed.
Cost? Hard to say. Reports vary from a couple to several hundred dollars. If you try to strip a JY car for the parts, they'll probably charge you as much or more. However, if you can't find a donor, that may be your only option.
Since you have already identified cars at a pick & pull, do the price research yourself. Then post the results here. That'll do more good than people telling you what they found in their neck of the woods (and if you want information about your neck of the woods, the regional forum would be a better bet).
