3 more things to complete 305-350 swap, please help me!
So you'll know I've been asking questions about my swap and we are sooo close! We just got over the big deal with the 700R4 to TH350 swap (drive shaft) so now we got a drive shaft that fits and whatnot. Here are the 3 issues that we are facing now in order to get this car on the street.
Car: 1984 TransAM.
Engine Swap: 305 - 350 chevy small block
Tranny Swap: 700R4 Auto - TH350 Auto
#1 Turbo 350 dip stick. I cannot in any way get the stock 700R4 dipstick to fit on the new TH350. Please help me on this one, I don't know what to do, I went to the junkyard and picked up a couple of older TH350 dipsticks from other cars hoping to just randomly make it work without any luck. I need to do this bad! Thanks in advance.
#2 Kick-down cable. The original kick down cable does not seem to be the right on. What should I do about this. I have even considered not using one. Anyone else doing this? How much of a crazy idea is this? If I still need to use one, please advice on what to do. Thanks!
#3. Exhaust. I have shorty headers just sitting there without a single clue of what to do. I am honestly trying to keep the exhaust on a budget but I realize how important this is. Please tell me what you would do. I basically want the best bang for the buck, I know this is heard all the time but I can't find good way to do it that is cost effective. Please help.
Once again. Thanks a million for all of your help and help me with the final steps of this car. Thanks!
Sincerely,
Juan

Since a bunch of guys have put TH350's in 3rd gens, I assume there is some standard dipstick out there that will fit. I would have guessed a TH200C from a 3rd gen would do, but they are probably getting hard to find. If all else fails, you can get a flexible unit from Lokar.
Are you using the stock 305 carb? If so, then a TH200C kick down cable for a 3rd gen should work. I think.
You might get more definate answers to those questions on the Transmission/Drivetrain forum.
What headers do you have? 3rd gen exhaust is good news/bad news. The good news is there is good stuff on the shelf that will bolt on/in our cars. The bad news is it isn't cheap.

I heard from someone else that a TH200C dipstick would work, but I don't know if I am going to be able to find one. If I don't, I will pick one of those flexible ones up from Lokar, I didn't eve know they existed so thanks a bunch for that!
I am NOT using the stock carb since I eliminated all the wiring and simply don't want that. I am using a Holley 650cfm carb instead. The original cable might have worked fine but my buddy broke it on accident, so now the plastic piece that holds it to the tranny is done.
Can I go without a kick down cable?
Unfortunatelly the headers is the only thing I went cheap on (didn't know as much back then) so I got Flowtechs, they fit great but I don't know how well they will do for performance. I have seen a few exhaust systems laying around the web (especially on summit) but they all start right about 300 which I guess wouldn't be bad if I could install it myself but it seems like it all has to be welded, which would require paying a shop to do it.
Thanks a lot for your answers and if anyone else can help, please let me know! Thanks!

The kickdown cable should be the least of your worries. Lokar makes them, too, and they are available from parts stores, dealers, etc. You can get the stud you need from Summit.
The Flowtechs are fine for a low RPM, torquey 350. For 5000 RPMs-up, you really need 1-5/8" primaries. The TPI type can be bolted it, as can the rest of the exhaust. I've replaced mine ports to bumper, and none of it is welded.
