I have an idea. Lt1 swap

Ok, Ive been sitting here pondering this for the last hour or so.

Why coundnt you drop an Lt1 in an L98 car and use the factory harnness and pcm?

The opti is one thing, but you could just drill the hole and use a distributor. I suppose one could burn a prom for your specific application like you would with a mini-ram etc. You could retain the l98 TB and use the stock tps and iac. A lot of the other sensors are in similar places, but vaccum lines and ports would be a hassle. What about the stock accessorys? If the outer dimensions on the Lt1 are the same, what about the bolt pattern on the face of the head? maybe the stock brackets would bolt up? Big *** Lt1 waterpump may get in the way though. Basically make the PCM think it still running a highly modded L98. Just a thought.

Anyone else pondered this?

Yes it can be done, a hell of a lot of work to just gain the stock heads and intake though....

Definitely doable. I'll post more when I get back to school tomorrow.

Why? The tuning on the old ECM type computers won't get you as much as the newer model PCM's. I'd hate to have to burn chips everytime I wanted to program my PCM.

Should be what you need to know on putting a traditional distributor on a LT1.
