Good luck with the swap...theres always fun little problems that come up, just gotta plan ahead. If ya need any help there are plenty of us ThirdGen LS1 swappers that have run into about every problem you could think of.

BTW how difficult was that dash swap?? Ive always wanted to get rid of the "roof" in my camaro.

dash swap is a must. if you can swap a motor, you can do the dash. i dont have a/c, so it made it a tad more easy.
ive searched and it seems the motor mount kit also comes with a trans crossmember as well.

i already have a spohn torque arm for a TH350, and a very expensive driveshaft im not replacing.
is there a mount that will replace the stock v8 mount exactly where it is now, or does the motor have to be moved forward or back for clearance reasons?
thanks

The 6.0 is going to basicly be the same as a ls1 swap, your just going to need to switch the oil pan, windage tray, and pick up from a ls1. The truck pan hangs down to low and will be a clearance issue, as for the mounts you can get them from spohn, hawks, or f-bodymotorsports. They will mount bsicly in the same place as you stock ones are.

I can do the brute work of a motor swap with a little bit of wiring but all the wiring stuff and cutting of a dash swap might put me off the deep end. Although I would love to do it.

The 6.0 truck Gen III motors had Iron blocks whereas the f-bod and vettes had sleeved aluminum blocks. The iron blocks are heavier but no more than a regular Gen I engine.

yea the truck 6.0(lq4/lq9), are basicly the same as the vette motor(ls1/6), but the truck is iron and slightly bigger(6.0 vs. 5.7). Alot of guys switch to the iron block when there ls1 goes becuase they can stroke it out to a 402 and they like the added strength. All the parts between them are basicly interchangable(except for a few alternator).

It also has a more low end cam. Not a performance cam. Not sure on valve train and rotating assembly. Im about to go with a 6.0 out of a silverado myself.

They have a multiport intake that is refered as "big ugly". It acutally performs quite well for stock applications. You may have fitment issue under a stock 3rd gen hood. it is best to get an used LS1 or LS6 (prefered) intake. The 345hp 6.0 engines had the same cam as the '01 and '02 F-bodies. The heads are basically LS6 heads with a larger chamber. They can make monster power when ported. The Gen III truck engines are amazing platforms for power and can be had for much cheaper than their 346 borthers found in f-bods and vettes.

i have a tubular k member. ive got a huge moroso oil pan on there now and it clears. ill have to toss the motor in and see if she clears. thanks for the heads up.

all these posts are the exact reason i went with the 6.0. im going to eventually stroke it to 440ci and have a nasty set of ported heads.
these combos are pretty drivable and see 525-575 wheel power depending on what cam you run and what tranny you have.
new technology is great.
this thing stock with a cam is prolly gonna make 400whp.
