yes, just get the ECM reflashed with a manual program. You can cut out the pigtail that would go to the auto. Thats what I did as my LT1 originaly had the auto behind it.

cool, thanks. another question, is there any significant differences between corvette wiring harnesses as opposed to caprice/impala/f-body harnesses? will a 92-93 harness(no maf) work with a 95 motor? or can it be made to work with a 95?

I would think the wiring harnesses are very similar for the most part, with a few differences between bodies.

yes, I've been using a T-5 for almost 5 years now. just used the 305 flywheel and a 3rd gen clutch. I had to rig up a speed sensor using a newer S-10 speed sensor and a 17 tooth sprocket on the front of the driveshaft.

I'm switching to a T-56 this summer though.

no, the actual speed sensor in the transmission. the reason for the sprocket is the T-56 speed sensor has a 17-tooth reluctor on the output shaft of the transmission to determine vehicle speed. We got a 3" (I think) 17-tooth sprocket, had the inner diameter machined a few thousandths so that it would press onto the yoke of the driveshaft, and mounted the speed sensor on the exhaust hanger on the tail of the transmission. We did this as a temporary measure since I knew I'd be switching to a T-56 and none of it would be necessary.

All of this came about when we found out all of the problems I was having with the engine dieing were due to a lack of VSS input to the ECM. Without that info, the engine would die about 50% of the time I would come up to an intersection.

The only thing I can think of is a smog pump or whatever it's called that is on the Impala Lt1 and possibly the f-body version as well but not on the 'Vette Lt1. The 'Vette Lt1 also has (from what I'm told) two seperate computers...one is the PCM strictly for engine/trans management and the other is for most other functions including suspension, braking, etc.
