305 tbi to 350 tbi
i bought my 92' rs in 2001, the previous owner had installed a jet performance chip and an accel electronic super coil. since then ive made a few upgrades such as, k & n air filter, high flow cat, flowmaster exhaust, richmond 3.73 ring and pinion, and for the suspension i have kyb gr2 shocks and struts, and polyerethane bushings from energy suspension. future upgrades include a posi traction unit, edelbrock ti - tech headers, and an aluminum drive shaft. when it comes to the engine im a little puzzled. i know that whatever i do to the 305 i can get more power out of a 350. so i am thinking about having a local machine shop build a 350 tbi roller motor. my question is to put this motor in, what mods are needed? Do i have to change the the computer, or the chip.... if anyone can help id greatly appreciate it...
thx

You will need 350 injectors, knock sensor, ESC module and a new chip. It is also a good idea to replace the fuel pump with either a high flow unit or a TPI one. The stock 305 pump is junk and can't feed any type of motor that has power. The mods on the 350 will deterime TBI unit and prom (chip)selection. You you just use a stock LO5 caprice 350 TBI as your motor you can get away with the chip from that car. If you add heads or even just a cam you will need to burn a new chip. This cannot be done through mail order so you will have to have someone do it for you or learn to do it yourself. It isn't that hard so don't get disscouraged. Chip work is the key to any extensivly modded TBI system. Without it your car will be slow and have horrendous road manors.

Take a look at the DIY PROM boards as well as the stickies in the TBI forum. They will get you started on chip burning. It isn't that hard so get ready to learn
