Trying to finish swap, ran into question.

I have this on the electronic board also but am not hearing anything. So if anybody here can help, I need it bad. I am trying to finish my motor swap and hit a snag. I am switching from a 305 TBI to a carbed 350. In some of the posts on here it says to connect the new HEI dist to a red/pink wire and a black wire. Others say it should be a red/pink wire and a white wire. The old coil had a red/pink wire and a white wire. It also had 2 wires that plugged into the old dist. The old dist had 4 wires coming into it, red/pink, black w/red stripe, purple w/white stripe, tan. What should I use? I looked through my Hanes manual without any luck as to which to use. Thanks.

Thanks. Do you remember if you used the white wire that ran to the external coil or the white wire that ran from the wiring harness to the distributor?
