in the process of swapping engines...got the transmission out...working on the engine. got the A/C off, laid to the side. All fluids drained, intake snorkel/MAF off, fans disconnected, whats the easiest way to take this thing out? theres a lot jumbled up under there...any ideas?

tranny is the hard part really.......
what motor are you pulling out? Sounds like a TPI motor out of an 85-89 car. D
isconnect the wiring harness and set it towards teh back off the block. Double check for the wire looms and ground straps bolted to the block.
If you feel brave, remove the upper plenum and runners along with the distributor. It can be pulled with them, but your hoist will have to be able to lift pretty high.
Remove the radiator and fans for some more room.
Unbolt the starter so it doesn't hang up on the crossmember.
Exhaust of course, easier with the headers on, but manifolds are ok.
unbolt the motor mounts and lift up

Engine removal...
Wow that sounds like a lot... take the hood off if you dont mind lining it back up later and just pull the sucker, just make sure all wires are disconnected (obviously) and get 'er done ... i pulled mine with more or less all the accesories plus i had the trans still attached... so its not hard!
It isn't bad at all. Like Jay said, basically go around the entire engine and make sure everything is disconnected.
It should be a lot easier with the hood off. before taking it off, take some white out and mark the position of the hinges, that will make things easier when time comes to put it back on.

To make lining it up easier, remove the hood with the hinges attached. The hinges have these locator tabs that limit the amount of adjustment you have to worry about.
Plus the hinges aren't sticking in your armpit when you're trying to reach for that ground strap on the back side of the passenger side head
