2.8 to 5.7
First of all I read the little sticky about v6 to v8 but some things are still a little cloudy. I am debating if I have enough time/money to go from v6 to v8. I got a quote from a junkyard for a complete L98 with everything attached, (accessories, harness, ecm, exhaust manifold) for $1200. It's from an 89 Iroc. Is this a good price? Would I be better off getting an LT1? Junkyards want about $1600 around here for a complete engine. Also I am trying to think of other things I'll need for this swap. I know I'll need to get the rest of the exhaust system, I have a t5 right now so I either need to get a v8 bellhousing, or a different tranny. (the one on the car is shot). Am I really forgetting anything major, please some insight would be helpful.

$1200 sounds a little steep if it doesn't include the transmission (does it include the computer?). I wouldn't bother with your V6 T-5.
LT1 will be more involved, only you can decide if the extra umph is worth it.
