what is a good 400 motor?

who makes the best 400 small block that can be used in a 3rd gen camaro...by best i mean i durable motor along with being able to handle a lot of mods...also, is there any advantage to going with a 350 instead of a 400...everyone seems to say just go with a built 350...what do you think?

Advantage of the 350 - there's lots of them available out there.

Disadvantage of the 350 - it's smaller than a 400.

Advantage of the 400 - it's bigger than a 350.

Disadvantage of the 400 - factory 400 blocks are getting harder to find, and have inherent weaknesses. To get around that, get a Motown block with 4.125" bore and a good steel 3.75" crank and build away. While spending many dollars.

build whatever you want. It's your combination of parts to match compression of the engine that will make you power, not size alone. How you gear/stall it and hook it up is what makes you faster. if you're looking for aftermarket blocks, motown blocks are pretty solid
