Yes -- you can get more power out of the Crossfire manifold. With mild porting, it will flow as well as a TPI with factory runners and so should run as well on the track.

The question is how much power do you really want? If you want a lot of power (I'm being as vague as you btw), then you should look to another approach. Bigger cubes are always the easiest/cheapest route to more power so the 350 is probably a better bet.

The Crossfire intake + TBIs assembly is worth something to someone that likes the CFI for being original GM old school hardware, or for someone that wants something different... so you could sell it on eBay or at the Crossfire vault website, but don't expect to get a lot of money for it. The demand isn't really there. TPI are similarly flow restricted (in stock form) and those sell for more $$ than a CFI because they're more sought after. HTH.

There is an aftermarket manifold available - very pricey.

I think a search would yield more valuable information for you. One member has had a 400 under his CFI.

thats interesting. iam not one for fuel injection anyways. but if the cfi. was something rare or whatever i would have second thoughts about ripping it out. because of all the wiring mess left behind (ecm, computers etc)

One member here, who lives at 4200' elevation near Salt Lake City, used to have a 400 sbc sitting under his modified CFI. It ran the sea-level equivalent of 13.3 and trapped at (?) 104+ mph in the quarter. Like many modified TPI cars, his car had a lot of torque and still made decent hp. The owner also had a background that was appropriate for modding his engine, so that helped a lot more than the numbers indicate.

There is at least one aftermarket new intake maniflold, called the X-Ram, that uses the two CFI TBIs on a wide flat upper plenum, which in turn sits atop a Weiand single plane carb intake. It showed no gain on a stock engine but did seem to show real hp gain on a modified engine that needed to move more air. There is a web site for it if you search for X-Ram or XRam. The other aftermarket cross-ram style intakes that have been sold can also be used if you make-your-own intake manifold top plate but they are ONLY a good idea if you have a serious engine build because they all have very large runners so they are not a good choice on a mild buildup, and a worse choice IMO on a 305 (vs a 350 or 383).

I suppose the Crossfire could be considered rare, because it was only used for two years in the Vette (82, 84) and for two years as an option on the Fcars (83, 84). Certain AMC Pacers were also rare but that doesn't make them valuable, only desire and demand make them valuable. So it goes with the Crossfire -- it will never be regarded as being that desireable or valuable even though it was very good in its day.
