Time to get this done!
ok guys. I know alot of basic repairs to do for a car...but i am looking to learn the big ones....the one i am looking forward to doing, and have been saying i'm going to do, is building up my own LS1 and doin the swap with an auto to manual swap as well...anyone know where i could find some good resources as to engine building and tuning with all the torque specifications...or resources on what stats go best with what on stuff like cams, pistons and everything else? i'm finally able to start buyin stuff for this engine, and i want to get it underway...no more puttin it off lol
The 4th gen rad isn't a direct drop-in install. I've been running a regular Modine thirdgen replacement rad on my LS1 for over a year now w/ no cooling issues.
I'd recommend buying the short block pre-assembled instead of doing it yourself, the precision tools needed to put the bottom-end together are pretty spendy.
Buy these two books:

The LS1 requires alot of special tools. Also, parts for LS1s get expensive very quick. My AFR heads were about $2300 and the Comp Cam was over $350 so its not like typical Small Block Chevy parts.
With limited experience, it may be best to do the swap and get the bugs worked out first. For my swap, I used my stock 3rd gen radiator and LS1 F-body radiator hoses (fit very tight on radiator).
