New guy here!

Hey just found this site, I'm from VA Hampton Roads area! I drive an '89 Firebird Formula 305 TBI (no laughs)! It's slow yes but it's a hott car.
Anyway, I posting in here because there is a 1972 402ci BBC short block available to me for $400, is this worth the price? What is involved in putting a BBC into a 3rdgen? I have never worked with a big block so any help would be appreciated. But this is definately the kind of power I want.

Welcome aboard.

At the top of this forum is a "Important/Useful Information" sticky about putting a BBC into a 3rd gen.

In general, if you're going to put yourself through this pain, you might as well get the most out of it. A 454 weighs the same as the baby version 396/402, the babies are as much trouble to put in as the grown-up versions, so if you don't have an engine laying around begging to jump in the 'Bird, save the $400 and put it towards buying a 454. The cost of the engine is the least of the expense, and this would be a case of being penny-wise and pound-foolish.

Not that I have anything in particular against the little guys, you understand...
