305 swap
I've got a 305 TBI, 92' rs. I've also got a 350 TPI, 87' Iroc-z.
My question is can i swap these engines, without worring about the smog control on the 92. And what i might need to do the swap. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks Jacob

To the letter of the law, no, you can't. You'd have to use a '92 or later system and all the goodies.
Practically speaking, though, it can be done. Whether you have strict emissions inspection or not is the real question.

Let's put it this way: You can easily transfer the IROC engine and equipment over to the RS. You should take everything, as very little of the TBI stuff will do you any good, including exhaust and fuel pump (the hard fuel lines should be the same, though).
There really isn't any "pollution control" on there that you should eliminate. The system is pretty much well tied together, and anything you would consider eliminating, with the possible exception of a factory cat, would not help performance. Transfer everything, and leave it at that.
All I was saying with my first reply is that if you have emissions inspection, you would not pass that if the person doing the inspection knew what they were doing. However, the system would work fine in your car. Don't try to get cute or fancy by removing things the McDonalds parking lot gang tells you isn't needed.
