Just a few questions.

The compression finally dropped in my old 305 (280000). I just want to get it back up and running, she deserves that much. I'm going with a GM goodwrench 350. I just want to know if there is anything i should do to the 700r4? which was rebuilt around 75000 miles ago or so. Also is there anything i should be aware of while doing the swamp? any issues? Also i want a clean engine bay meaning not cluttered with excess hoses and wires. Thanks.

You should where some high boots in that swamp.

Anyway... For a cleaner engine bay, remove all of the smog/emmisions/egr stuff. That should help a little bit... Cleanest engine bay would probably be carbed.

Also, what intake system are you currently using and what will the 350ci. be? (carb, tbi, sd or maf tpi?) This might be the "more complex" part of the swap. I'm pretty sure the gm goodwrench 350's (longblock) comes with 260hp/350ft lbs. You could only achieve this with a 4 barrel carb setup. Only thing I really don't like about this engine is that it's a 2 piece rear main seal. But this shouldn't effect you. It's also a 4 bolt main FYI.

If you are just looking for a replacement 350 and nothing, than this is a good idea. For a little more power, you can get the gm perf parts 350 H.O. Its got 350hp/380ft lbs of torque. That's less than a grand more. If your oriengine was origionally carbed, everything should swap over smoothly. BTW, part sumber from summit is NAL-12486041.

I'm pretty sure your 700r4 should be alright. Summit offers them in back of the zz4's. But I'm not an auto tranny expert. That tranny's probably still stronger than the t5, .

Some things to consider:
new engine/trans mounts
new plugs/wires
new distributer
headers(if you have the money)
Check your accesories

If your car is '86 or '87, the flexplate will be different.

If you car is '87, the intake manifold is different (but modifiable).

Good luck with the swap. Five7kid is right, that would be a direct bolt in now. You might want to change your motor mount bushings, but that's all. Have fun!
