i was trying to find out if i can bolt in a 1979 350 into an 83 camaro, at first i was trying to put it into my 86 trans am but it wasnt working out so easily (flywheel compatibility) so i read about it found out the t5 wasnt rated for much horsepower......... so i found a donor 83 camaro -- i can either swap the tranny into the trans am or just put the motor into the camaro ---- so the big question is will this work ---- am i gonna have the same problem with the flywheel in this case a flexplate --- last time the bell housing wouldnt fit around the flywheel

Welcome aboard.

Why the big deal over a flywheel? The change from two-piece rear main seal to one piece took place in 1986 - Go get a flywheel for '82-'85 f-body V8. Certainly a lot cheaper than buying another car. A T5 will live behind a 350 if you don't do any clutch dumps or try to speed shift it.

But, a '79 engine and '83 flywheel are compatible. If the '79 has a driver's side dipstick, you're going to have a problem with getting the tube between the engine and '83 exhaust manifolds. Other than that, it should bolt in.

Does the '83 have an engine?
