you do know it is VERY bad to rev an engine high under no load, don't you?

There's simply too many possibilities to diagnose. You need to datalog to see what's going on. Could be going lean/rich, spark advance, could be mechanical. Got a laptop? TunerPro RT is invaluable!

TunerPro RT is a software program you run on your laptop to evaluate what your engine is doing. Granted, you need to be somewhat familiar with engine management to decipher. I'd recommend some reading on the DIY PROM board. Technology isn't slowing down any, just advancing. Might as well get on board.

Problem is... your car is controlled by a computer. So, if YOU want to fix it, YOU need to get familiar with mechanics and engine management. That may even include computers. If going fast and saving money is in your future then you simply can't afford to do without a means to datalog and alter the parameters of your ECU. If you simply want to get it running good in stock form then by all means take it to your local mechanic. Just be prepared to pay upwards of $65.00 an hour. Good luck!

under no load: reving the engine in P or N
it would be alot safer to put the car in first gear and drive it at 4000 RPM than sitting in a parking space in P or N reving to 4000 RPM(or to any rpms)
