Vats experts needed please!
Hey guys its me again, ok i have decided to swap a 305 tbi into my 2.8 ttop fire bird, now heres the skinny, the cars are the same year model, if i swap out the computers will i need to swap out the vats stuff too like the key switch? or vats module, oh and i noticed the 89 hard top car with the v8 has no chip in the key but i was lead to belive all 89 fbodys had the vats system, please help guys
if the v8 didnt come with with the chipped key then i'd say it does not have vats, then dont worry about vats. Vats just enables/disables the electric fuel pump.
Either way you go, the key switch will NOT have to be swapped if you want the 2.8's vats or no vats.
My opinion is swap the computer that has no vats. Easy, done, no hassle.

Maybe they disabled the VATS and had a regular key made or placed a regular barrel in. I would look to see if there is a vats module in there.
You could of course just ditch the tbi, ecm, and harness for a carb, hei distributor, and a nice intake.

Well I just found one article on the web that said the vats system appeared first on the 91 camaros.
So much for my conspiracy theory huh?
