why do you just use the engine wiring harness if u were swappin a LS1/LT1 from a newer camaro? why dont you pull the entire engine and chassis wiring harness?

im well aware of that but isnt it easier to just cut the ends and crimp on the 3rd gen plugs to the wires?

Headlights...turn signals...headlight switch...high beam switch...turn signal switch...radio...HVAC...ignition...power windows...door locks...brake lights, side markers, and the list goes on. And then there are the LS1 chassis harness wires which have no function on a 3rd gen: airbag, traction control, ABS, etc.
On the other hand, approximately 12 wires (from memory) to connect an LS1 engine harness to a typical 3rd gen chassis harness at connectors C100 and C207. Add in a few 12VDC feeds, relays for the fans and fuel pump, and you're done.
