The wire sort boogie
I have started sorting out the wiring harness on my 91 rs. It had the 305 tbi. I'm halfway through it and have a few of questions.
1. Under the dash there are the plugs for the ECM. A smaller bunch of wires split before the ECM and went into another plug What do these wires control? I remember several of them being pink, pink with black stripe, etc
2. The wiring harness reenters the firewall on the driver's side. What do these control?
3. It looks like the A/C and heater is controlled by the ECM. How have you hooked these up?
I'm hoping to have this rust bucket rolling by mid September.
Thanks

The larger connector is for; Wipers, Dizzy Connections, Alternator, Starter, Temp Sensor, Etc. (It provides power to #3). It should be threaded around the rear of the engine and then down the top of the Pass Side Valve Cover. It has one or two connections to the MONSTER strand from under the passenger side fender (The ECM Strand).

Hope this helps SOME.

get some pics. I'm sorting out teh differences between the 85 efi v6 dash wires & the 84 carb v8 dash wires. There's that strange blue box taped to teh harness, & an AC delco black box (flight recorder?).
Maybe the 85 Service maual will help some.......

The AC/Delco black box is the cruise control box. Your '85 V6 harness should be the exact same as my '86 V6 which is totally seperate from the bulkhead connector. When I put the LT1 in mine, I totally removed all the old ECM and wiring and running the car totally on the bulkhead connector which if you are going carbed, this would be the way to do it with the V6 bundle.

Thanks kboehringer!
That gives me an idea of what is what. I am half way through this process. I will be out there today and I will see about getting some pics. I don't know how much they may help. All the wires going directly to the ECM have been cut to make it easier to sort though them. Luckily, my Dad has done this with his 83. However by 91 the ECM had more control.
Thanks for the replies gents!!
