L69 cam from 305 into a 350?

I have a 305 TPI with an L69 cam and 305 heads. I want to put a 350 in there. I have read many posts on how to do this and just wondering if I can use the L69 cam in the 350? the car is a 86 TA Firebird.

You can, but why? Cams are cheap, its time for an upgrade.

Is this a roller cam?

Since a 350 is 15% larger than a 305, the L69 cam would be useless.... it wasn't that strong to begin with.

I would buy a good dual pattern hydraulic cam for it.

I don't know. How can I tell. I am not even sure what all is included in the L69 package. That would be nice to know also.

No L69 cams were of the roller lifter type.

Is it still in the motor, or is it loose right now?

No it is still in the motor. I am debating to rebuild the 305, or just upgrade to a 350. So I am asking questions about what parts can be used in the 350.

For what you will spend on a rebuild you can get a much nicer 350 crate motor. What's your budget?

It will cost less or the same to buy and rebuild a 350 instead of your 305. It never makes any sense to rebuild a 305.

I was originally going to the 350, then thought maybe the 305 would suffice, but now I am agreeing that a 350 would be just the same $$$ and a much better motor. I can get them done here in Tucson for about $1000.

There were a few HO's in '86, but roller cams didn't start until '87.

Of course, the Monte's had HO's, but I'm not up on their cams, nor how long they continued them. I do know they didn't even have dual snorkel air cleaners.
