Swapping my 305 TPI with an L98

I was given a motor and a tranny out of an 1987 'Vette, I want to put both into my 1985 IROC-Z. I wanna know how hard it is to swap the motors, I have heard many different answers, some say it's simple some say its a pain in the ***......I can take anything out of the 'Vette I need to make the swap work. PLEASE HELP!!

Welcome aboard.

It shouldn't be that difficult. It's basically an engine change. I haven't heard the most glowing reports about the '85 TPI computer, and I couldn't tell you if the Vette computer will fit with the f-body harness, or if your harness would be compatible with a later f-body computer. But, I don't think it would be that difficult to sort out.

You may be able to get some information about the computer specifics on the TPI forum.

It is alot of work, but none of it is difficult. Its a very straightforward swap. The only thing you need to worry about is that the vette fuel rails will have the lines pointing to the passenger side. Just use the fuel rails from your IROC (assuming your IROC has TPI), and the lines will point to the drivers side.

The vette and camaro both used the 1227165 ecm in 87.
