I tried to search but I must not have the right keywords. I'm trying to compile a list of possible donor cars/trucks so when the bottom end of an L98 goes we can goto the junkyard and look for possible donors of a replacement block. I know this isnt the most reliable way to go about this, but this is for a tight budget. I guess we are looking for the 14088XXX castings or any SBC that came with a 1 piece rear main seal and works with a 168 tooth flexplate. Or if there are other blocks that will work, would appreciate the leads. Can you guys help me compile this list?

My ZZ crate was a 638 block.

Any '86-later 350 block will work as far as the crank and flexplate (153 tooth, by the way) are concerned. '87-later required for roller cam, and most likely passenger car, not truck.

Hahaha not yet but pretty soon!!! LOL!! This one actually happened to a friend while coasting downhill off the throttle after some fun on the mountain. Kinda weird because it was working fine for like 10 minutes after hammering it, then it just gave out really quick out of nowhere. Marbles in a can. The experience has made me realize how easily this could happen to me. Must be prepared ...
