305 to 383 swap
I pulled a 305 TPI out of my 86 IROC, and plan on putting a 383 TPI back in. I picked up a 350 block and I am building from there. The 305 heads will fit, even after I have them ported, so the valve covers and intake will work. How about the oil pan? and the water pump? Do I need to get some new ones? What stock 350 oil pan will fit in the 86 IROC. I have read on the Board that a stock 350 pan wil accomidate the long strock of a 383. Thanks for the help.

Since the 305 and 350 have the same stroke from the factory, I don't see how you would have a problem with the 305 pan.
Now, a 383 being fulfilled by TPI and 305 heads, that's a different story. Mostly the TPI part.

Im building a 383 for my 89 RS 9.5 to 1 with AFR heads and Im gonna use the TBI set up. thats good I can use the stock pan from the 305.
can you use a windage tray with a stock F-body pan? like the one out of a 70 LT-1 corvette that wraps around the crank?
if not Im gonna use a canton stock replacement oil pan, its a 5 qt deal but it will accomidate the windage tray.
