I bought my lt1 and transmission for $2000, but it also came with a custom wiring harness and a bunch of other stuff like exhaust and headers.

Not too bad, I give 2700 for motor/6-speed, wiring, accessories, PCM, radiator and fan setup.

Hey Chevyowner, you need to come over to the board at Highperformance Toys we have several people from the Tri Cities on it.

That sounds like a good price to me if the milage is really 40k. Can the seller verify it? I spent 2300 on an lt1 from a vette with no transmission. it had 60k on it, but it came with all accessories and the computer.

I paid $1500 for an F-Body LT1 with 30k miles, all accesories, harness, and PCM, no transmission. So yeah thats a good price.

I got mine from Tennessee Auto in Cleveland Tn. He parts out 4th gen cars and usually has at least 1-2 LS1 and 1 LT1 and has good prices.

I bought my engine from Contemporary coverttes in Bristol PA. These guys have several Lt1"s and LS-1's on hand all the time.

I did mine myself, just grabbed a multimeter and started tracing wires out. Plus it helped that I had an underhood fusebox from a 4th gen as well which helped a bunch.

If you really want to make it easy to wire up, try out lt1wiring.com Someone put me on to this guy and he grafted my wire harnesses together.......that made it a plug in affair. The cost was 575 which was less than some standalone wire harnesses. Hope this helps.

True, but 575 will buy a lot of go fast goodies...that's alot to spend on wiring when you only have to hook up around 8 wires.

Klortho I take you hooked up your own what i was planning on doing. I had one guy was going to do it for 600 but i think it was to much for what little bit I've read you have to do. By the way how far are you from me?

I'm about 30 miles west of Knoxville, around 2 hours or so. I might be able to work something out to head that way. My wife has family that lives in Bristol and could probably take a weekend to come and visit them and maybe help you out as well.

I used my original TPI air filter setup. i used k&N air filters and I sawed off all the baffling. In place of the mass air flow sensor iused a 3" diameter exhuast connector from the parts store. i sprayed it semigloss black . The original TPI bellows works fine on the front of the lt-1 engine.............

I used the LT1 elbow and made a CAI for the one in mine. Swapped the battery from the driver side to the passenger side (since the Firebirds are on that side) and it works like a charm.
