Vortec TPI, worth it?
I am looking at this setup and want some input. Do you guys think that the setup is worth the price?
SDPC Part Number: SD360VTPI
Manufacturer: Scoggin Dickey Parts Center
Horsepower : 357 @ 4200 RPM
Torque : 416 ft/lbs @ 4200 RPM
Compression Ratio : 9.6 to 1
Camshaft Duration @ .050 : 218/228
Camshaft Lift, I/E : 0.525"/0.525"
Cylinder Block : Cast Iron 2-bolt, 1 Piece Rear Seal
Crankshaft : 3.480", Nodular Iron
Cylinder Heads cc : Vortec, 64cc
Intake Manifold : SDPC TPI Vortec Baseplate
It should only need distributor, water pump, upper plenum, and sensors. What do ya'll think?

It includes their $400 base, Hot Cam and 1.6 roller rockers, amoung other goodies.
You need aftermarket runners, larger TB, and headers to get the HP they advertise.
If you want Vortec heads and TPI, it's a good way to go. Worth it? That's a personal decision.

I already have a 350 TPI. But at 120k miles, it has lost a ton of power. The bolt-ons are already there. I already have EVERY bolt-on that is on the market with the exception of spray or a charger. I wish the cam had a little more lump but I talked to Kevin Jones at Scoggin Dickey and he told me for around 900 more, I can get the motor with forged pistons and such. Thats for the twin intercooled procharger!

true... but i mean if you were to price it out yourself.. im sure you can cut that cost down by a lot..
i bought a rebuilt L98 short block for 550$..
the intake is 400$
vortec heads with the bigger valves and better springs from Summitracing are only 700$
hot cam is $187 from SDPC
ect..
so thats the way i would go... depending on what else they include as far as "goodies"

I understand that I could assemble one for cheaper if I were to dig around but I am working in Iraq and only get 35 days a year back in the states and don't want to spend every hour building. I would rather enjoy the time driving. So I guess I answered my own question. It seems worth it to me.
