is this a good deal?

Hi. ifound a guy in my area who has a caddy cts-v LS-2/6 speed combo out of a wrecked car that had 200.0 miles on it. its the 395hp/400tqe motor. is 8 grand a good price for the engine/trans and wiring? if so i think i am gonna buy it for a third gen project i've been thinking about. The only thing is the motor is just gonna sit for a few months while i work on my race car, so, is it a good enough deal to just buy it now, or should i wait and hope to find another one next year?

Just a thought but did you think about how much more power you could get from a sbc with 8g worth of parts.

Seems like a faily good price considering it includes the harness. Maybe a little on the high side for a used engine. One thing to think about is how much abuse did that motor take considering the car got wrecked in 200 miles.

The car was in a rollover in the rain. i do understand the power potential of the sbc, but i want to do an LSx swap just because. I've heard the the motor run. it sounds perfect. cant attest to the condition of the trans but it should be perfect as well. I'm trying to haggle him down to 7g's if he goes for that, I'm gonna buy it i just think it would be cool to have a third gen with the LS2 motor.

Axle/Gears: Moser 9" with 4.11
That's actually not a bad price for a complete engine and trans with all the wiring included. 200 miles is basically brand new in my book, you wouldn't be able to get a crate engine with all the accessories and wiring for that price.

Yup, mine is a VERY built LS2.

Seriously, that is not a bad deal at all in my opinion. I can tell you I've got more than that just in my shortblock.
