TPI to Carb Air intake Question
Hey guys, I have a 88 camaro that used to have a v6. Before I bought the car the v6 had been replaced with a carburated 98 5.7L truck motor. Can I route the carb to the air box from the car? Its the same box as on the tpi cars. I figure that would get more cold air into the motor. I was thinking of using a carb hat like on blower applications, but they are expensive. Does anyone know what else I could use? Or do you know where I could get a cheap carb hat or something like it? Thanks guys.

I had thought about doing the same thing. It would be nice to get some good cool air. Some of the jeep motors have sort of a carb had on them. If you could find on for cheap, you might be able to modify it to work. I think I saw on on a 6cly jeep motor.
Seem like I remember seeing somthing on some of the vortec truck motors that might work also.

Why not just get a J.Yard GM air cleaner. I've seen one or two of those carb hat setups that you describe they don't [IMPO] have much going for them as far as looks are concerned.
I manufacured a Dual Snorkel for my son's car and it cost me an afternoon's work and about $20 for the two air cleaners (J.Yard) and Paint (Lowe's). You can't get a much more reasonably priced set-up than this. It also [IMPO] looks pretty good.
