LT1 in plain english

Ok, heres the thing I've searched through board after board for the past several days and have gotten nothing but wiring schematics of the lt1.
I've got a 1982 Z28 no computer 5speed carbed 350
My sister just wrecked her 95 Z28 Automatic car. Initally what I want to do is keep the 5speed swap the motors rearends the tranny will go in my dads chevelle but I want to know what I can keep/ take off. I'll switch fuel tanks, I've read about the fuel lines, on how to splice them together but i think I just use the 1995 ones. I won't have A/c. I already have headers Just people with wisdom please help me on what I half to keep and what can be sold @ the swap meet. Keep in mind I have the whole 1995 at my disposal and yes I have used the search button quite frequently on this subject but have relativly gotten nowhere.
Thanks William

You will need the motor, PCM, and engine harness. The 4L60E won't work in your dad's Chevelle if he doesn't already have an LTx or LSx based motor because the shifting is all done by the PCM. What size headers are you using? Is the 5-speed currently in the car a later model T5 for some reason I read where certain hydraulics would not work with the LTx engine but could be wrong. You will need the LTx A/C delete pully, I think it costs around 75 bucks or so for it. You will need a portion of the interior harness that goes back to the fuel pump and will mount where the current wires for the fuel gauge goto. If the radiator/fan setup didn't get hurt, best bet is use it and the underhood fusebox that will control the fans, fuel injectors, and PCM switched power.

the five speed setup is out of a 87 iroc (new hydraulics) the headers are Hooker #2340's full 2.5" exhaust. my biggest question is what can be eliminated from the wiring harness??? all the other general aspects of the swap I have general knowlege of. thanks William

Which wiring harness are you referring to? If you are referring to the LT1 harness, nothing. And if you have no computer control, then all of the wires from the bulkhead connector will be used.

You can kill the EGR and smog if you don't have emissions, but I wouldn't take the plug for the EGR solenoid out of the engine harness. I just tucked mine out of the way, used blockoff plates. All of the gauges come from the bulkhead connector, you will splice in the wires coming from the C220 and C230 connector from the LT1 harness into it for the gauges.
