Hood clearance with new motor.

I just dropped in a new 385 with a Victor Jr. intake on top. Is there anyway that this thing is going to fit under a stock camaro hood? I can cut the inner fram off the hood too for more clearance. I also want to add a 3/4" N20 plate. I have moched it all up and it looks WAY to high for a stock hood, but maybe the angle of the car with no hood, or fenders is throwing me off.

Thanks.

I can't see any way your gonna fit it under the stock hood.Maybe with no air cleaner, but even then your carb will be sucking straight from the bottom side of the hood.A 2 1/4or2 1/2 " cowl or something along those lines should get you the clearence you need.

My Harwood fits great, but it's the only one I've ever dealt with, mine may be one good one in a million.

I was able to fit a vic jr, 1/2 inch spacer, demon carb and drop base aircleaner under the stock hood of my car. Added a N2O plate and needed a cowl hood for everything to fit The hood is the factory composite hood though, no bracing to speak of but the fake vents do pop down a ways.

Is that the foam triangle filter? if it is, do yourself a favor and get rid of it before it drops a bunch of crap in your engine. I normally dont just jump in someone's thread and give my .02 but in an instance like this I will.

I am getting a 3" cowl from champion fibergalss. There is NO way my hood will fit with my N20 Plate. I would also recomend a normal style filter.

Several of my friends and I drove up to there shop and put the hoods on in there driveway. We all left very happy and with $ still in our pockets. They are not quite as nice as Cervinis but they are over $200.00 less!! Chec them out at www.championfiberglassproducts.com

Good luck with your choice.

Look in this thread

https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/sho...&highlight=L88

As long as you don't have the tall Vic Jr.
It will fit with the right drop base air cleaner. In the thread.
may have to switch the NOS plate for a 1/2" plate thou.
Or drill and install the NOS tubes right in the intake manifold plenum.

Removal of the choke air horn on a holley carb is required.
Uses a 14-3" element and does not restrict air flow once the choke horn has been removed..

All in all less $$$ than a cowl hood.
