I found this donor car

It's a '88 Firebird V8 auto. I'm not sure what V8 is in it and neither did the lady I called. It's not her car but her husbands, all she said was "it's the fast one". A trans was just put in it too. I can get the car for $500. I am hoping that it's a 350TPI... I just want some more power and the 305TBI doesn't make that much more power than my 3.1.

I'm not really sure but didn't the base model Firebird V8 in '88 come with the 305TBI and the Firebird Forumla had the 305TPI and 350TPI??

The Formula could also get the LO3.

If she has the title or registration, have her read off the VIN. The 8th character will be an "8" for the 350, "F" for LB9, "E" for TBI.

"Fast one" is in the eye of the beholder. If they're used to a Tercel, an LO3 may seem quite fast.

In my experience, if they actually label it as a Firebird, it's the TBI. If it were a Formula or TA, they typically would describe it as such (hell, half the firebird's are described that way too).

even so though, it'll give you a great opportunity to learn how to do the swap, and you'll have everything there anyway. and tbi can be tuned with the prom to give some nice gains, even in stock form, but after you put headers and an intake manifold and a catback and maybe a small cam, you can have a high 14 second car that gets excellent fuel economy...

Well I'm still waiting to go see the car. I made a mistake in my first post, it's not her husband's car it's her son's. I called the number back again but no answer.
