LT1 TRANNY Q's

Alright I have a 1985 Iroc and I'm putting an LT1 In place of the TPI. I have a T5 MB1 out of a V-6 camaro and I was going to rebuild it to a world class, all new main and counter shafts, Tapered bearings and all, but what input shaft will I need and where do I get it. I know I will probably blow this tranny but I want to defy the odds. I have read the the shaft for the World Class is longer than the non WC but is it long enough for the LT1?

same input shaft you need for any other SBC V8, nothing is different. I ran a T-5 behind my LT1 for almost 5 years. For the money your going to spend to rebuild it with all new parts you'd be well on the way to a T-56 or could have gotten a used V-8 T-5 and had it rebuilt.

Even a world class T5 may not last behind an LT1. I'd look into the Tremec TKO 5 speed or the T56 6 speed. Neither one is going to be cheap, but neither is upgrading the T5 to those specs.
